This is, in my opinion, what we ought to be doing about pirates. Putting them out of business.

In the past, in Roman times, Rome itself was dependant on grain from Iberia. The grain ships were its lifeline. And pirates were a plague on it, forcing them to bend to their demands. Until Pliny the Elder went to deal with the problem. It was a twenty year campaign, but in the end piracy had been eradicated from the Mediterranean.

How did he do it?

He burned their ships. Killed the crews he caught at sea, and landed troops to -educate- any town, city or village that supported the pirates.

It's brutal, but it works.
